Training Tip #1
Settling InThe first day or two for your puppy should be fairly quiet. He or she will then have time to get used to his or her new home, surroundings and family members. The first night, he or she may cry a bit, but if you put an old teddy bear, an old sweater or an old t-shirt in his or her crate, this will give him or her some additional security.
Placing a ticking clock or a radio playing music nearby can also be helpful. Remember, he or she has been uprooted from their siblings, his or her mother and his or her familiar breeder. He or she will need a day or two to get used to his or her new family.
If he or she should cry during the first night, let him or her be and he or she will eventually quiet down and sleep. By the third night, he or she should be well settled in. Have patience and within a week or less, it will seem to you, your family and to your puppy that you have all been together for years and you will be off to an excellent start.
